We are very excited that we can sing again and we would love you to join us as we start to learn the music for our concert with The Brighouse and Rastrick Band on 18th December 2021. Our first rehearsal on 6th September will be fun!

Even if you missed the first rehearsal it is not too late - just come along to St Pauls Hall (off Victoria Avenue) on mondays from 7.30pm.

Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society was formed in 1972 by a group of G & S enthusiasts with our first production in Harrogate Theatre in May 1973.   The Society has gone from strength to strength over the years and has continued to stage a production each May or June in the same theatre. In 2019 we moved our main production to the Fraser Theatre in Knaresborough with great success.  Since 1986, in addition to our stage production we have held two Christmas concerts each year in conjunction with the world-famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band.

The Society is committed to the works of Sir W S Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan "in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such works by means of public performance".  We hold Club Nights on the second Monday of every month, except when a production is imminent.

We welcome new members  and patrons – you don’t need to know much about G&S to join … many of us just love the fun, the music and chance to perform on stage!

We rehearse on Mondays at 7.30 in St Paul's Church Hall, just off Victoria Avenue.

Tickets will be on sale early in 2022 when we can finally bring you our next production (originally planned for 2020), a very special WW2 version of the G&S classic, The Sorcerer

This delightful comic opera contains some of the finest melodies Sullivan ever wrote and was his first major success with WS Gilbert. Directed by Oliver Longstaff, this new version of The Sorcerer brings the plot into the 1940s as the villagers prepare to celebrate. When starry-eyed young lovers, Alexis and Aline, decide everyone in their village should be as happy as they are and hire a magician to brew a love potion for the village, typical G&S mayhem and hilarity ensue.

A great evening of entertainment and wonderful singing is anticipated in this magical 1940s production of The Sorcerer – think ‘G&S meets Dad’s Army’!

All tickets will be £12 (no reductions) and are unreserved but the sound and views are excellent throughout the theatre so choose your seats when you arrive for the performance. Details of online sales will be confirmed shortly and we also intend that you will also be able to buy tickets in person at

The Old Chemist Shoppe, 16 Market Place, Knaresborough.
